The International Professional Managers Association is an International Examining, Licensing and Regulatory Professional body formed for the purpose of providing practicing managers with the opportunity to participate and to be part of the process of improving managerial performance and effectiveness in all areas of business, industry and public administration.

Managers of today work in an era of constant change. Increasing competitive pressures, rapid developments in Information Technology, Telecommunications, and a more demanding society altogether pose challenges crying out for effective solutions. Organisations today therefore need to have skilled Managers who can address these demanding challenges and have the ability to develop and implement the most effective business strategies to solve these problems.

Our primary objective, as an International examining, licensing and regulatory professional body, is to improve the key skills required for effective management. Through our examination and licensing qualifying scheme we strive to create awareness and understanding of new technology and new techniques of management so that our qualified managers have the necessary skills to improve their personal effectiveness for their organisations and also to enable them to have a satisfying and rewarding career in Management.

We also support and promote professionalism in the manner managers conduct themselves when dealing with people and organisations in the business and work environment. Through our membership and examination scheme we also ensure that our members uphold the high standards of management skills and expertise required by all employers in all sectors of economic activity. Membership Grades

Our Association has FIVE grades of Professional Memberships.

  • CERTIFIED FELLOWS - FCIPM, FPMA
  • CERTIFIED MEMBERS - CIPM, MPMA
  • CERTIFIED ASSOCIATES - CIPM, AMPMA
  • LICENTIATE MEMBERS - LMPMA
  • GRADUATE MEMBERS - GRD. PMA

Our Membership Qualifying Examination scheme requires students to complete 6 (six) levels of examinations and assessments. The mandatory qualifying stages are:

Foundation

Intermediate

Professional Part 1

Professional Part 2

Completion of a 6 months Professional Qualifying Research Project

Completion of a 12 months practical Internship Programme

To become a Licensed Member of the Association, all Professional Part 2 successful students must complete 18 months internship programme at their place of work or at an approved alternative organization. Through mentoring and coaching, the intern will, in time, achieve a higher a level of performance and managerial effectiveness.

Our Association places great emphasis on this internship programme. Through a well-structured system, this process is both motivating and challenging. Further details of the Qualifying Project and internship programmes are available elsewhere on this website.

Existing members must satisfy our mandatory requirements for Continuous Professional Development (MCPD) before renewal of their membership status.

Members are also expected to comply with our Association's Code of Practice.

We are pleased to be working with various organizations who share our objective for the development of managerial expertise, strategic and management leadership skills. All our affiliates are fully accredited and provide a high level of service and commitment in achieving our mutual objectives.

IPMA ATPs or Affiliates do offer a series of specialist certificate programmes that are relevant to their respective markets. These programmes are all fully assessed and certificated by IPMA in the UK.

International Journal

The International Professional Managers Review has been created to provide academics and practitioners a platform and a Journal for their exploration of new ideas, concepts, techniques and practice.

Our Journal aims to provide steady information about the latest theories and practices, right across the world. Recent issues have ranged from individual employability to global operations strategy, and having contributors from four continents.

Our members have access to the Journal but members of the public can view abstracts and we believe that you will find articles of interest and we welcome your subscription for access. Please contact our Secretariat at admin@ipma.co.uk if you have problems of accessing the site.

Members are invited to be contributors to our Journal.
